LORE - The Roadmap

We are pleased to announce that the LORE community is live and the Rules In Common are almost ready for testing! I would like to go over the Roadmap over the next year and how we plan to get to our first official launch.

May - June: Second Draft & Private Testing

Right now, we are wrapping up months of work on the core rules, known as the Rules In Common (RIC), and plan on having our second draft completed by July 1st. These rules will form the basis of all future LORE game worlds and campaigns. The RIC will not be publicly available at this time as we are looking to playtest privately with our Discord members. The hope is to iron out any issues we have with the RIC and get it to a point where we can consider it stable.


July - September: Guides & Templates

After the RIC is stable and private testing is under way, we will be working on our Guides and Templates for new Loremasters and players to dive into LORE themselves. Come September, we should have these all completed and ready to use in future games. These include:

  • Introduction to LORE: This will be a small pamphlet describing LORE in general to explain the game flow for players and Loremasters alike.

  • Loremaster's Guide: This will be an in-depth source of information for Loremasters to help them forge new worlds for players to experience. It will detail setting up a World Document, Ability and Item Catalogs, custom Conditions and Influences as well as any supplemental rules that make their world one of a kind.

  • Player's Guide: This will serve as a starting point for players in all LORE games and a place to reference when creating and progressing their characters. Sections for how to Roleplay, how to balance a party, handling combat and social conflicts in their games. The Player's Guide will serve as a place for players to create and play their Characters to their fullest.

  • World Document: This will serve both Loremasters and Players as a place where all of the info about a given Game World lives. It will have two versions; a Player-facing version and a LM-facing version.

    • The LM-facing version will be akin to the tri-fold screen used by GMs in other TTRPGs. It will contain a distilled version of the game world elements for reference by the LM, such as Items, Abilities, Conditions, Influences, Locations, Characters and anything else central to the gameplay and narrative.

    • The Player-facing version will be a much more slimmed-down version of the LM-facing World Document. This will contain only information the LM wishes to share with players to both help them create their characters before the campaign starts and to help them follow along during the campaign.

  • Game Templates: Various game templates will serve as an easy way to get a game up and running and to keep various game elements separate and easy to access. This will include Character sheets, Ability Cards, Condition & Influence Cards, Item Cards and Game Grids for those who like to map-out their games. None of these are required to play a LORE game but might help save on time and keep things organized with the heavy-lifting.


October - December: Prints, Website & Licensing

Once those Guides and Templates are complete and the RIC has been tested privately we will be looking to roll-out the following:

  • Releasing printed version of the RIC and Game Templates to be accessed on the website as well as an Official Box Set available to order.

  • The full website, including our Official Store and a Downloads page to access the digital versions of the RIC and Game Templates. We may even have the RIC embedded on the website for quick access.

  • Release details regarding using LORE commercially for creators. We haven't landed on a final process for this but it is in the works and we hope to find a good solution that both keeps LORE afloat operationally and serves players and creators in their own endeavors.

  • Working on our first Official Game Worlds to Launch in early 2027. We don't have the details on these worlds yet but we have a few that we have homebrewed over the years that we would like to bring to the LORE community so they can experience them like we have for years.


January - March: Official Worlds & Creator Marketplace

With all of the above in place we will be starting out first Official Campaign(s) in our very own world(s) on our Discord server. We haven't decided if we want to make it live or not, but more details will emerge as we get closer to this timeframe. At this same time to launch our Creator Marketplace for Loremasters and Players to purchase and explore the sprawling worlds of other creators and showcase them on the website. We hope to see your worlds by then!


April - May: LORE Official Launch!

After one whole year the plan is to officially launch the 1st Edition of LORE in May of 2027 at Fan Expo Philadelphia at our very own booth! We will have physical copies of the RIC, the Box-Set, the Game Templates as well as some other merch to sell while we promote LORE to a new crowd. We are optimistic that we could also manage to have some live gaming taking place on-site in one of our official worlds. This will be an exciting time indeed! So, that is our Roadmap for the next year. This will also be posted on the website on a Roadmap page for reference. For now, there is plenty of work to be done and a community to grow.
